The handling of weapons and ammunition generally requires a permit in accordance with the Weapons Act. In the interests of public safety and order, the granting of weapons licenses is subject to strict conditions.
In addition to reliability (including convictions, ongoing court proceedings), this also includes personal suitability (physical and mental aptitude, minimum age) and the existence of a need (including a valid hunting license or membership of a shooting sports club).
In addition to issuing weapons permits, the Weapons Law Department is also responsible for processing administrative offences under the Weapons Act, for shooting range permits as well as weapons bans, withdrawals and revocations of weapons permits.
For questions on the following topics:
- Granting a permit under firearms law
- Found weapons and ammunition
- Destruction and disposal of weapons and ammunition
- Classification of weapons and ammunition in accordance with the Weapons Act

the employees of Department 12 are available to answer your questions during office hours.
