"People who misuse the roads as a race track or for self-expression have no place on public roads. Anyone who speeds and thus behaves recklessly not only endangers themselves, but also other road users. We take consistent action against speeders by exhausting all legal possibilities," says Chief Constable Friederike Zurhausen.
Since a change in the law in 2017, motor vehicle racing is no longer considered an administrative offense, but a criminal offense. If a fatal accident occurs during a prohibited race, the driver can even be charged with murder.
The police carry out regular checks to protect everyone.
