Colleagues from the Crime Prevention and Victim Protection Department regularly provide advice at information stands in town centers in the district of Recklinghausen and in Bottrop.

The most important tips against pickpockets in a nutshell:

- Always carry your bag and valuables close to your body.

- Do not put any bags/purses in your shopping cart.

- Be particularly attentive if you are approached by strangers. Thieves often distract their victims and engage them in conversation.

- Avoid crowds wherever possible.

- As always, call 110 in an emergency!
